Clan tech(yep that's about it.)

Mauler:

More hardpoints.

No useless jump jets.


Just this without going into a long explanation says it all.

The JJs on IS HGN are pretty useful. Just put a big XL engine so you can mount them.

Mauler: Hitboxes to make an Awesome look good, along with all the nice low mounted hardpoints.

Unless the HGNs get some serious mobility quirks, having 325 max engine is not desirable for me, period. Not when there are easy-mode XL alternatives such as the Battlemaster or the Banshee. If PGI improves their JJs and brings Death from Above mechanics, I'll re-buy them without hesitation.
That's what Highlanders are notorious for, anyway.

The IIC of the Orion and Highlander aren't going to be that great. You can't fix the shape of a mech. The IIC are going to be better than them, sure, but that's it. How good are they going to be? Well, they'll be... better than the original.. I guess..

Highlander is actually good again,atleast in public queue,it can jump snipe with 4-5 jump jets,it can be used as a fire suppression at any range,and even some heretics have success with LRM-boating them + 732B has some metric fuckton of armor.
Only downside is that you need a IS-XL in most viable poptart-builds as of this moment,because the scaling of the jump jets is pretty decent,and one jump jet barely lifts you up the ground,but with 5 you can jump at the top of the citadel in River City.

I rarely do under 500 damage in public drops in my 733C poptart

I bought 3 highlander during the sale, and have k/d ratio between 1,9 and 1,6, with 500dmg average per match. Solo que only.

Unless you are a kid liking the easy stuff and easy win, and doesn't like the challenge or to be challenged.

Actually, thats pretty much how people play from my experience.
Why else would the majority of players be using clan mechs with cheese builds.
